Vedaranyam: The Forest of the Vedas
Kodiyakarai to Vedaranyam – A Spiritual Journey

From Kodiyakarai to Vedaranyam

From the wild coast of Kodiyakarai, the road winds inland toward Vedaranyam, located about 13 kilometers away. The landscape is flat and serene, dotted with expansive salt pans and lush coconut groves, echoing a sense of quiet reverence unique to this coastal region of Nagapattinam district.

Vedaranyam, also known as the Vedaranyeswarar Temple Town, is deeply steeped in spiritual legacy. According to Hindu mythology, the four Vedas – Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva – took human form and worshipped Lord Shiva at this sacred place.

This divine association gave rise to the name “Veda-aranyam”, meaning the Forest of the Vedas, making Vedaranyam one of the most spiritually significant towns in the Nagapattinam region.

Sando Residency welcomes pilgrims and travelers to settle in near the sea with comfortable rooms available now at Vedaranyam. Our peaceful residancy also serves guests from nearby Aayakaranpulam, offering a convenient and relaxing stay close to temples and coastal attractions.
